Job Summary

The Patient Service Center Representative II is responsible for creating a positive patient experience by accurately and efficiently handling the day‑to‑day operations related to both Financial Clearance and Scheduling. This includes verifying eligibility and benefits, performing pre‑authorization and financial counseling, and ensuring accurate scheduling of appointments. On occasion, the PSC Rep II may be assigned only to complex pre‑registration duties. The role requires a thorough understanding of all assigned functions and compliance with department policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete scheduling and registration for an upcoming visit during a single call, ensuring timely appointment setup and providing callers with essential information (prep instructions, directions, order management details).
  • Perform Financial Clearance: verify patient demographics and insurance information, secure payment of financial liability, and conduct collection efforts up to and including payment collection.
  • If assigned to Order Management, verify that orders are complete and match the scheduled procedure, then index and export physician orders to the correct account number.
If Assigned to Complex Pre‑Reg
  • Collect and verify required patient demographic and financial data elements, determine financial responsibility, and secure pre‑payment for future services.
  • Create a comprehensive pre‑registration account for an upcoming inpatient or surgical admission.
  • Complete all pre‑certification requirements by obtaining authorization from insurer and/or healthcare facility.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned based on departmental needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Work effectively in a production‑driven call‑center environment.
  • Proficiency with dual‑monitor computer setups.
  • Basic typing ability and working knowledge of a Windows‑based computer environment.
  • Multitask across multiple systems (financial clearance and scheduling) simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Conifer requires its candidates, as applicable and as permitted by law, to obtain and provide confirmation of all required vaccinations and screenings prior to the start of employment. Education / Experience
  • Required:

    High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred:
    Two or more years of college or equivalent professional, customer‑service‑driven experience.
  • Preferred:
    Telephone/call center experience.
  • Preferred:
    Pre‑registration and/or scheduling experience.
  • Preferred: 2–3 years of customer service experience.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work in a sitting position, use a computer, and answer telephone calls.
  • Ability to travel.
Work Environment
  • Office work environment.
  • Hospital work environment.
Travel
  • Approximately 0% travel may be required.
