The OR Business Manager oversees scheduling and charge capture billing of implants to ensure accurate consistent financial, purchasing, and operational performance. Supports the service line leadership with budget management, tracking of Implant supply usage and purchases. Reviews cases for accurate billing, and produces reports and analytics as needed. Serves as a liaison with other departments related to supplies/inventory. Interacts with Health Information Management and CDM Management to ensure accuracy of charge and coding processes and to determine if any coding or charging practices need to change.
The manager serves an important and crucial role, and is a valued member of the team.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in the use of personal computers (Windows environment), Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Knowledge of basic databases.
- Demonstrated skills in analytical thinking, problem solving.
- Ability to present at meetings, conduct meetings, prepare agendas, and prepare meeting minutes.
- Knowledge of hospital systems and organizational relationships.
- Effective verbal and written communication including ability to present ideas and concepts effectively to physicians, management and other members of our healthcare team.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently without close supervision.
- Organized and ability working with timelines and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a creative and challenging work environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and weekends as required to meet business needs.
Required Experience:
Work Experience:
Two years of experience with medical coding and billing systems and/or related computer applications in a fast paced environment required. Experience with hospital or surgery contracts is preferable
License/Registration/Certification:
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required; or must be obtained within two years of being in the position.
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
