Job Description

Environmental Compliance Specialist for US Army Sustainment Command Hazardous Material Supply Operations (HSMO) Division – Logistics Support Services (ASC | LRC‑HSMO
11011). Position is a full‑time, exempt W‑2 role located on site at Fort Bliss, TX, supporting hazardous material sustainment operations on a program support basis for the U.S. Army.

Functional Area

Program Support as an Environmental Compliance Specialist. Responsibilities include environmental compliance and regulatory oversight aligned with NAICS 541620 – Environmental Consulting Services for the Army’s hazardous material receipt, storage, tracking, and sustainment logistics.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Serve as an Environmental Compliance Specialist under an Environmental Analyst / Specialist labor category.

• Ensure hazardous material and waste compliance; manage SDS documentation; conduct inspections; support waste turn‑in/disposal approvals; prepare environmental reports; support audits and corrective actions.

• Receive, inspect, and issue hazardous materials; validate documentation; ensure proper labeling and storage compatibility; process transactions in GCSS‑Army; maintain accountability and safety compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Desired qualifications: 5–8 years of environmental compliance experience; 3+ years supporting Army or DoD environmental programs.

Education / Experience Requirements / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field; HAZWOPER certification required.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Primarily focused on management and financial consulting, acquisition and grants management support, and business program and project management services. Knowledge of regulatory interpretation (EPA/OSHA), hazardous waste documentation, inspection readiness, and data tracking is essential.

  • Strategic leadership, risk management, decision‑making, communication with senior Army stakeholders, operational governance.
