Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Custom Order Engineer System & Support Engineer in El Paso, TX.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Responsibilities
  • Primary Function
COE Systems & Support Engineer – Responsibilities
  • Responsible for an assigned product line to drive improvements for the COE/Customer Order Design (COD) teams in the automation tools.
  • Provide continued learning for COE/COD on expected use of the software tools and best practices.
  • Support systems training for new hires and ticket escalation support for COE/COD issues/requests.
  • Work on the following product lines where applicable:
    Medium Voltage Assemblies (Greenwood, SC & Omaha, NE);
    Low Voltage Switchgear (Arden, NC);
    Low Voltage Switchboards (Sumter, SC & El Paso, TX);
    Portland Power Center (Portland, OR).
  • Apply prior COE experience with configuration requirements and related systems and processes in the division, including Bid Manager, MI Manager, Design Automation, DCMS, POM, ENOVIA, MAPICS, AutoCAD and other site-specific tools.
  • Deploy and support Front End Engineering systems for the assigned product line.
  • Develop product line specific training documentation for engineering software tools and processes.
  • Provide onsite support as the first point of escalation for systems-related issues, determine root cause, urgency, and communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed.
  • Support prioritization of MI and DA system issue tickets through individual contribution and coordination of other Eaton resources.
  • Maintain familiarity with COE and COD processes for the assigned product line, including application/engineering decisions, methods, product offerings and design standards.
  • Gather requests for system enhancements and communicate to the appropriate development manager.
  • Support continuous testing for system enhancements and bug fixes as they are deployed.
  • Be knowledgeable of MI parts picking logic to troubleshoot parts picking errors and scope updates with product line enhancements.
  • Be available for after-hours and weekend support.
  • Participate in product line meetings on Front End Systems projects and continuous improvement activities, driving best practices and knowledge sharing across engineering, design and systems teams.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of applicable experience with engineered-to-order (ETO) products and their associated configuration tools

  • Travel – up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical or electronics engineering technology, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering or mechatronics from an accredited institution
  • Previous COE experience in Low Voltage Assemblies
  • Previous electrical experience
  • Knowledge of PLCs
  • Knowledge of power distribution and control systems (LV and MV Switchgear, Panel boards and Switchboards, Motor Control Centers)
  • Preference for extensive experience in Eaton’s ETO software tools including, but not limited to:
    Bid Manager, MI Manager, Design Automation, DCMS, Plant Order Manager, Pick Work Bench, etc.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, UL and various local electric codes
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Proficient use of Eaton’s ETO software systems and AutoCAD
