Senior Engineering Manager

Job Description Summary

Senior Engineering Manager leading the plant Asset Care team comprising Facilities, Planned Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, and Automation/Controls. The role drives plant-wide maintenance activities to sustain overall plant operations and infrastructure, ensuring a structured maintenance program that maximizes uptime, controls costs, and guarantees safety and reliability of assets.

• Develop and execute site-wide planned maintenance strategy, managing preventative maintenance spend to stay within budget.
• Build and lead a high‑performing technical team to achieve operational objectives (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).
• Ensure equipment runs efficiently by confirming timely completion of PMs.
• Lead Tool Crib operations, maintaining targeted spare‑part inventory and timely requisition.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and performance, targeting C2W savings.
• Monitor and control MTTR, MTBF, failure trends, and maintenance costs to set priorities and identify asset modification or decommissioning needs.
• Achieve high PM compliance per targeted objectives.
• Partner with Manufacturing Unit technical teams to address process issues and reduce repetitive breakdowns.
• Lead change management for engineering and maintenance, addressing people, structure, technology, and regulatory initiatives.
• Communicate critical actions to management for restoring and maintaining 100% equipment reliability.
• Harmonize processes, enforce technical standards, and maintain awareness of improvement methodologies and new maintenance techniques.
• Benchmark engineering and maintenance best practices against other BD sites and external references.
• Perform other duties as required to support business needs.

• Education:
  
  BA/BS in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Experience:
  
  10 years in engineering with 5 years managerial experience.
• Experience in a pharmaceutical regulated industry for 5 years.
• Bilingual. Proficient oral and written communication in English and Spanish.
• Background in statistical process control.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, FMEA, validations, and improvement methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Manager/director experience required.

• Master’s degree.
• PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, OSHA certifications.

BD prioritizes on‑site collaboration, requiring a minimum of 4 days in‑office per week. Remote or field‑based positions may have alternative workplace arrangements as indicated in the posting.
