Job Summary

Assists the Project Engineer with being the technical source of information for the project. Responds to questions about drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders, and has responsibility for assisting in writing change orders, RFLs, meeting minutes, and reviewing submittals. Maintains an effective and professional working relationship with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. This position includes three incremental steps (I, II, Senior) that provide for a progression of skill and experience.

Step I is entry level for individuals with minimal experience. Step II is for employees with approximately two years of experience or experience on larger projects. The Senior step is for employees with more than four years of experience or on significantly larger projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists Project Engineer in developing and maintaining as-built drawings and other work tasks, reviews and processes submittals, change orders, RFLs, and budget forecasting, and ensures timely generation, distribution, storage, and disposition of meeting agendas, RFLs, and daily reports.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the project management plan (PMP) and is involved in its support and execution, performs project scope activities, and supports the team to ensure project success.
  • Ensures the administration of the project quality management plan and reinforces a culture of safety throughout the project.
  • Assists in calculating daily production rates and unit costs for self-performed work; participates in risk management, including identification, analysis, response planning, and monitoring.
  • May assist in overseeing/managing BIM coordination between subcontractors and designers.
  • May be responsible for documentation and submittal for LEED certification and for creating and updating Digital Record Drawings (ORD).
  • May provide lines, grades, and layout as required while maintaining an organized log book.
  • May provide weekly quantity reports and maintain accurate quantity logs; performs budgeting and cost-control processes to keep the project within approved budget.
  • Provides support to superintendents and helps resolve field problems as necessary.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate with others is essential.
  • Entry-level position that normally requires a four‑year construction‑related degree or equivalent technical/field experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.).
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently; may stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
  • May use telephone, computer, email, or other electronic devices periodically.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Will occasionally climb stairs, ladders, etc.; use hands to grasp, lift, handle, or carry objects frequently.
  • Will interact with people frequently during a shift; lift, push, or pull objects occasionally.
  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire shift duration.
