- The mentor teacher must have at least 3 years of exemplary teaching experience
- The mentor teacher must have effective interpersonal and communication skills
- T-TESS Summative at 3.5 or higher
- TIA Designated (preferred)
- The mentor teacher must have:
- Leadership skills
- Actively involved in campus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability for honest and direct feedback, address concerns as they arise in a professional manner

- The mentor teacher must have the capacity to hold professional conversations and work collaboratively (share instructional ideas and materials) to achieve common teaching and learning goals

- The mentor teacher must work collaboratively in partnership with the ESC 19 Site Coordinator to ensure the success of the resident teacher.
- The mentor teacher must have a track record of having a positive impact on student achievement scoring in the top 25% compared to other teachers in the district and/or state level.
- The mentor teacher maintains positive relationships with parents and community
$3,000 Stipend per year
The role of the Mentor Teacher is to serve as a mentor and a coach who models and plans effective instruction, creates a supportive classroom environment where teacher candidates are encouraged to take risks, and observes and provides specific feedback to teacher candidates to have a lasting impact on student achievement.
Mentor Selection Criteria- High School Teachers only
