Pre‑K Aide II
Job assigned to perform tasks under the direct supervision of a certified teacher or teaching team, with a high degree of independent judgment.
Responsibilities- Reinforce skills and units of instruction taught by the teacher; work with at‑risk students on a one‑to‑one basis, with small groups and the whole class based on needs.
- Assist with preparation of extension lessons such as cooking, music, and poetry enrichment.
- Assist students with integration of technology and educational media into the curriculum.
- Assist support teachers, technology teacher and librarian during scheduled times.
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Participate in selecting, planning, organizing and evaluating classroom instructional materials; assist teacher in preparing classroom displays and using instructional materials.
- Incorporate discipline strategies and concentrate on social skills development throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom; reinforce proper etiquette during meals and snacks.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.
- Assist in the creation and actively participate in a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular school business hours to confer with district stakeholders as needed.
- Participate in professional development activities as required by the district.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
- Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma, GED or higher; 48 hours from an accredited college or university; experience working with students and parents. Must possess or be eligible to obtain a paraprofessional certificate issued by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and must obtain a national criminal background check through the SBEC website within 30 days of hire.
Must be able to communicate, listen, read, write, and comprehend the English language sufficiently to use it easily and readily in daily communication. Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with district employees, parents and students.
Mental, Physical, and Environmental DemandsMust be able to assist in the lifting/carrying of students with disabilities in excess of 50 to 175 lbs. depending on age level, pushing/pulling wheelchair/walker, personal hygiene, etc. Requires some bending, reaching, standing, kneeling, squatting.
Must be able to acquire certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Heimlich maneuver, and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI). Must be familiar with and able to use Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy (OT/PT) apparatus. Subject to the district’s drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation.

CompensationSalary range: $40,270.46 – $58,794.88.
