Overview

This position is located at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Dept of Obstetrics/Gynecology, Fort Bliss, TX.

Fort Bliss is a United States Army post in New Mexico and Texas, with its headquarters in El Paso, Texas. Established in 1848, the fort was renamed in 1854 to honor Bvt. Lt. Colonel William W.S. Bliss, U.S. Army officer, private secretary and son-in-law of President Zachary Taylor. Fort Bliss has an area of about 1,700 square miles. It is the largest installation in FORSCOM and second largest in the Army overall.

The portion of the post located in El Paso County, Texas, is a census-designated place with a population of 8,591 in the 2010 census. Fort Bliss provides the largest contiguous tract of restricted airspace in the Continental United States, used for missile and artillery training and testing, and at 992,000 acres has the largest maneuver area. Since 1921, William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) has provided care for Military Personnel and their eligible Family Members.

WBAMC is one of two trauma centers in El Paso County and provides trauma care and a full range of medical services to Fort Bliss. The Medical Center offers programs in many medical disciplines and has partnerships with higher learning institutions. The staff aims to provide excellent patient care. Responsibilities
  • Provide Obstetrics services, to include both medical and surgical management, for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of prenatal and postnatal care.
  • Provide Gynecology diagnosis and treatment, to include both medical and surgical management, to evaluate a wide range of female pelvic conditions or issues.
  • Provide examination, diagnosis, and treatment of the full range of OB/GYN patients, from pediatric to geriatric patients.
  • Perform advanced examination and treatment of patients referred for consultation.
  • Evaluate both functional and dysfunctional problems related to the female pelvis, to include masses, pain, urological complaints, bleeding abnormalities, hormonal dysfunction, and infections.
  • Performs Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid and unpaid experience, volunteer work, and programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps). Your resume must clearly describe relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, transcripts will be required. Additional information about transcripts is in the document.

Basic Requirement For Physician (Obstetrics And Gynecology)

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada, accredited by the relevant U.S. medical education bodies. Foreign medical graduates must demonstrate equivalency as described by the ECFMG or other recognized pathways.

Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted physician license/registration in the United States (state, DC, PR, or territory).

Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised clinical experience beyond medical school, such as an internship or first year of residency, in a hospital or accredited institution.

Requirements

Residency Training: Successfully completed the required accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with at least 4 years of training. Experience cannot substitute for required residency.
