Position Description

This position is responsible for providing Gastroenterology services at University Medical Center. The person in this

position works in a busy, pressured environment and sees a high volume of patients, as needed by TTUHSC. This position is responsible for providing primary ambulatory medical care. This includes examination of patients, ordering x-rays and laboratory tests to help make an accurate diagnosis, and planning and execution of treatment. Major/Essential Functions

* Provides Gastroenterology in-patient care and in-patient consultation services.

* Supervises and teaches students,residents, and fellows in both in-patient and outpatient care.

* Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship.

* Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.

* Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with Paul L. Foster School of Medicine.

* Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibilities .

* Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

* M.D. or D.O. degree Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas

* Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in Internal Medicine

* Successful completion of ACGME-accredited fellowship training in Gastroenterology.

* Board certification in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine Board certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

* Experience teaching Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows

* Bilingual (English and Spanish

* Regional or emerging national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher

Required Qualifications

* Graduated from an approved accredited School of Medicine with an M.D. degree

* At least three years post-graduate training in primary care medicine

* Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer license to Texas

* Certificate or license for prescribing controlled substances
