Registered Dental Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dentist in various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with EMR systems, particularly Eaglesoft and Dentrix, is highly desirable.

Duties

• Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques.
• Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Manage chairside assisting duties, including suctioning and providing support during procedures.
• Conduct patient intake by recording vital signs and medical history.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
• Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
• Support pediatric dentistry efforts by creating a welcoming environment for young patients.
• Stay updated on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is preferred.
• Knowledge of dental procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
• Proficiency in taking medical imaging and understanding medical documentation processes.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills to interact positively with patients of all ages, especially children in pediatric settings.
• Basic knowledge of medical coding and records management is an asset.
