Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dentist in various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with EMR systems, particularly Eaglesoft and Dentrix, is highly desirable.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Manage chairside assisting duties, including suctioning and providing support during procedures.
- Conduct patient intake by recording vital signs and medical history.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
- Support pediatric dentistry efforts by creating a welcoming environment for young patients.
- Stay updated on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is preferred.
- Knowledge of dental procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
- Proficiency in taking medical imaging and understanding medical documentation processes.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with patients of all ages, especially children in pediatric settings.
- Basic knowledge of medical coding and records management is an asset.
