Construction Inspector

MOS Codes: 12H (Army), 3E251 (Air Force), 1301 (Marine Corps), B00A (Navy)

Completion of 30 hours of college credits in Engineering, Drafting Technology or a closely related physical science field and two (2) years of construction or engineering related experience, or a High School diploma or GED, and four (4) years of construction or engineering related experience.

International Code Council Commercial Building Inspector Certification required within three (3) months of date of appointment. Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.

• Conduct site inspections of all commercial, residential, or municipal infrastructure construction projects under general supervision. Enforce compliance with construction documents, plans, and specifications, ordinances & regulations.
• Oversee and be responsible for the inspection of municipal construction projects. Interpret plans and specifications for work being done under contract. Prepare technical records and reports. Maintain applicable databases, records, and files. Research prior inspections for approvals or disapprovals to determine current status. Attend training and meetings. Testify in court and before City boards and commissions, as required.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other city departments to insure all appropriate permits for construction projects have been obtained. Resolve issues and minimize delays to construction projects.
