The Accounting Coordinator supports the Chief Financial Officer and plays a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of a construction-focused organization. This position is responsible for processing transactional accounting activities with an emphasis on job cost accuracy, project tracking, and compliance with internal controls. The ideal candidate understands construction accounting workflows and thrives in a project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Process accounts payable, including subcontractor and vendor invoices, ensuring proper job cost coding
- Process accounts receivable, including owner billings and progress billing support
- Assist with lien waivers, subcontract documentation, and compliance tracking
- Review and enter invoices within Sage Intacct – Project Accounting, ensuring accurate project and cost code allocation
- Prepare and post journal entries as directed by the CFO
- Support month-end close procedures, including project cost reporting and WIP support schedules
- Maintain vendor, subcontractor, and customer records
- Respond to internal project managers and external vendor inquiries in a timely manner
- Maintain organized financial documentation in accordance with audit and retention requirements
- Assist with financial reporting and special projects related to project accounting
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment
- Working knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and percentage-of-completion concepts preferred
- Experience using Sage Intacct, including the Project Accounting module
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple active projects
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- High level of discretion and professionalism
- Salary Range: $50,000 – $65,000 per year (Actual salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.)
