Develop, formalize, and maintain the Company’s accounting policies and procedures. Monitor new accounting pronouncements and assess potential impact to the organization.
  • Revenue Recognition & Construction Accounting
Analyze construction and government contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition methodologies. Evaluate performance obligations, variable consideration, and contract modifications under ASC 606. Review percentage-of-completion calculations and cost-to-complete methodologies for compliance and consistency. Assess accounting treatment of contract assets, contract liabilities, retainage, and unbilled receivables. Analyze margin fluctuations and estimate revisions from a technical accounting perspective.
  • Financial Reporting
Lead preparation and technical review of GAAP-compliant financial statements and related disclosures. Ensure proper presentation of revenue recognition, significant estimates, and construction-related balances. Draft accounting position papers for external stakeholders, including auditors, lenders, and bonding agents. Support consolidated reporting requirements where applicable.
  • Complex Estimates & Internal Controls
Review significant accruals, contingencies, and judgmental estimates. Evaluate accounting treatment for loss contracts, disputes, and claims. Provide technical oversight on capitalization policies, depreciation methodologies, and project-related asset accounting. Strengthen internal controls over revenue recognition, WIP reporting, and significant accounting estimates.
  • Audit & Compliance Support
Serve as technical liaison for external auditors regarding accounting positions and financial reporting matters. Prepare and support technical documentation for financial statement audits and government-related audits (including DCAA, where applicable). Ensure accounting treatments align with FAR, DFARS, and government contract cost principles when applicable.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Accounting, Finance, Contracts, Compliance, and Project Management teams to evaluate accounting implications of operational decisions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to accounting staff. Promote consistent application of accounting policies across projects and departments.
