We are looking for a dynamic intern who is eager to learn about our company and the banking and financial services industry. The intern will work under direct supervision of the Audit Manager, or in some cases, a Senior Auditor. The Internal Auditor Intern assists in conducting operational, compliance, and financial audits of deposit and loan operations departments, and administrative and other business activities of Cathay Bank.
Interns may also perform departmental rotation. During this rotation the Intern will report directly to a departmental supervisor. Successful candidates should demonstrate a willingness to help with any job-related tasks assigned by the immediate or departmental supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Fulfill tasks and work assignments as directed by immediate or departmental supervisor in a timely manner.
Attend required project and/or business meetings, departmental overviews and presentations as directed by immediate supervisor
Assist in performing surveys of functions and activities in assigned operational areas to determine the nature of the operations and the existence and suitability of internal controls used to achieve established objectives.
Assist in audit testing in accordance with departmental standards and approved audit programs.
Assist in conducting interviews with appropriate Bank personnel to supplement assigned audit tests.
Assist in preparing work papers in accordance with departmental standards to document audit steps as indicated in the audit programs.
Assist in following up on audit recommendations, as assigned.
Work in a team environment and complete assigned training and related projects during departmental rotations.
Submit weekly status report to immediate supervisor for review during touchpoint meetings.
Provide feedback to the Human Resources Department on the Internship Program to make the program more effective for future interns.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
1-2 years of completing a BA/BS in accounting, business, finance or related field preferred.
Experience:
None required.
Skills/Ability:
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with MS Office. Detail oriented. Must be a team player. Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and be punctual. Ability to cope well under pressure. Demonstrates a professional attitude.
OTHER DETAILS
$30.00 / hour
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
