Compensation

This position starts at $17.45
* per hour.
* Hourly rate may vary based on education, experience or qualifications. Starting pay is determined through our structured step-guidance placement process.   • Regular, full time employees will be eligible for health insurance benefits on the first day of the month following sixty days of full time employment. Health insurance benefits include medical, prescription, dental and vision.
Responsibilities
  • Collect wastewater samples and conduct specific tests, measuring the quality of the wastewater sample
  • Analyze test results, record results of the tests on daily work sheets and assure chemicals are properly balanced
  • Conduct follow-up testing as instructed, assuring continuous monitoring of water in process.
  • Maintain awareness of all chemicals, supplies, and equipment required to operate the plant
  • Monitor the treatment process and make appropriate changes, assuring appropriate levels and amounts of spare parts needed to operate the plant exist in current inventory and notify supervisor of need to reorder supplies and chemicals
  • Conduct operational tests and monitor all equipment
  • Maintain bio solids composting operations including wind rowing, turning, and temperature readings per 503 regulations
  • Assist with land application of bio solids and enter data into the computer
  • Maintain on-call status on a four-week rotating basis, utilizing remote monitoring
  • Review and examine new products and technology and field test new products as they become available
  • Assist with special projects and committee work as requested
  • Follow a plan for routine preventive maintenance and complete the plan ensuring proper operation of all equipment by listening, feeling, smelling, and observing
  • Identify or receive notification of equipment requiring maintenance attention, conduct a physical inspection of malfunctioning equipment and diagnose
  • Follow a plan for corrective action, assemble supplies and equipment needed to make needed repairs, assuring supplies and equipment are available
  • Complete the plan and provide instruction and training for personnel ensuring an optimal training experience
  • Communicate with outside contractors to obtain quotes and assistance to maintain City equipment and facilities
  • Communicate with the supervisor and others regarding process or status changes ensuring continuous communication
  • Maintain a log of the time equipment has been in operation, maintenance activities, availability of equipment, and any unusual conditions concerning equipment, safety, or operating conditions that staff should be aware of
  • Keep wetlands and water reclamation facility and equipment clean and free of safety hazards
  • Perform maintenance work in a variety of areas including plumbing, electrical and machine work
  • Assist other City departments as requested
  • Develop ideas or suggestions for improvements and modifications to the facilities and obtain approval on potential changes
  • Enforce and maintain compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ordinances
  • Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary
  • Comply with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures
  • Operate all job-related equipment, machinery, tools and other aids as required or needed
