Job SummaryThe Senior Refinery Operations Specialist ensures unit capacity, serves as the senior operations team member for their area, and represents operations to the Business Team.
Education and Experience- High School Diploma or GED (Required) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) or more years in a leadership role or equivalent military experience.
- Four (4) or more years in a refinery, petrochemical, or chemical role.
- No licensure or certification required.
- Oversee refining operations and unit performance.
- Track performance metrics, conduct data analysis, and produce reports.
- Manage tasks and time, plan and organize work, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Pass drug test and background check; work rotating shifts, holidays, and overtime; meet physical requirements and wear PPE.
- Provide an escalation path for shift teams and support day‑to‑day operations.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment and approve area operating procedures.
- Apply technical knowledge to oversee reliability, throughput, and implement operational improvements.
- Investigate and close Gensuite incidents; conduct audits and walk‑throughs.
- Develop and implement margin improvement and efficiency plans.
- Support Shift Superintendent and Unit Technical Trainer with up‑to‑date training materials.
- Oversee reliability, compliance, quality, and safety programs for assigned area(s).
- Evaluate alternatives and make decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
- Plan and maintain unit downtime schedules and coordinate with OMC for maintenance priorities.
- Provide planning premises for weekly, monthly, and annual plans.
- Issue daily operational guidelines to shift teams.
- Manage relationships with specialty chemical and catalyst vendors, including contracts and material receipts.
- Conduct routine monitoring of unit performance and lead the Area Business Team on short‑term threat resolution.
- Act as contract holder, track and manage variable expenses in the area of responsibility.
