Job Summary:

• This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy. The selected applicant is responsible for instructing students in the classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical setting within the Nursing department as a part of the Health Science division. The applicant should be professional, articulate, and collaborative as well as having excellent interpersonal skills. Work schedule may vary depending on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, class, laboratory, clinical, and/or program schedule and needs ▬ as well as college-designated work hours.

Position may require evening and weekend work hours.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction of Nursing courses within the Health Science division, including but not limited to:
Fundamentals I, Fundamentals II, MS I, MSII and MS III. This includes preparation for class lecture, class laboratory, and clinical class sessions; communicating with students; assessing student work, etc.

• Collaborate with other Nursing Department faculty to decide on syllabi, course materials, common assessments, etc. and complete said documents.

• The selected applicant will supervise students in the classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical setting in both in-person and online course sections and work to provide a safe and engaging learning environment.

• Maintain appropriate expertise and competence of the professional discipline and educational methodologies.

• Comply with State Board of Nursing standards and practice guidelines.

• Utilize various retention and remediation strategies for student success.

• Maintain organized system of student and program records, abiding by college record management guidelines.

• Actively participate in applicable annual evaluation processes related to job performance as directed by the South Arkansas College plan for Faculty Evaluation and incorporate associated strategies to address continuous improvement for development and learning.

• Participate in applicable professional development within professional discipline area and in college/position-related areas as required.

• Abide by college policies and procedures in the South Arkansas College Administrative Procedures Manual (APM) and catalog.

• Provide availability to meet with students regarding course content.

• Adhere to FERPA Guidelines when handling student information.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the program director and/or division dean.

Travel

o Travel may include as appropriate but is not limited to field trips with students and to clinical practice settings.

o Travel may be to local and regional geographic areas.

Skills and Abilities:

• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• The ability to use professional technology to conduct college-related business (ex. Microsoft Office Suite).

• Ability to teach in both in-person and online modalities using the College LMS (Blackboard Ultra).

• Executive cognitive functions to plan, organize, teach, and evaluate students in didactic, laboratory, and clinical situations.

• Emotional regulation to manage self and multiple situations within a short period of time and maintain self to complete tasks and duties over an extended period of time.

• Ability to perform practical nursing clinical techniques.

• Manipulate, operate, and maintain typical equipment used in practical nursing.

• Perform multiple tasks within a classroom, laboratory, clinical site, within one work shift as well as over a long-term period of time.

• Executive functioning skills needed to identify, analyze, and complete complex learning and practical nursing related situations.

• Teach others with various learning styles and instructional needs.

• Work in spaces such as: classroom, skills laboratory, simulation laboratory, individual office area, academic spaces and buildings, college campus, off campus facilities, clinical affiliation agencies, public community areas.

• Work in spaces that are both inside and outside.
