Position Purpose

The Loan Processing Supervisor (LPS) oversees all aspects of commercial & agricultural loan processing, documentation, funding and servicing. This includes conventional real estate loans, construction, and member business loans. The LPS leads a loan processing team to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant handling of loan files from application through closing, aligning with credit union policies and regulatory requirements. The role also provides leadership, training, and guidance to staff, maintains a focus on exceptional member experience, and serves as a liaison between loan processors, loan officers, underwriters, and other departments to support seamless lending operations.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • Supervise a team of commercial loan processors and support staff: assign workloads, monitor performance, coach, and ensure high‑quality output and timely closings.
  • Pipeline Management: oversee the commercial & agricultural pipeline from application processing to closing, ensuring all conditions are met and timelines achieved.
  • Document Oversight: review, validate, and approve loan documentation packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policies, regulatory standards, and loan approval terms; engage external legal counsel on complex transactions.
  • Compliance and Quality Control: maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of NCUA regulations, internal lending policies, and legal documentation standards; coordinate post‑closing quality controls; ensure HMDA reportable transactions are entered correctly; support audits.
  • Collaboration:

    work closely with internal & external teams to resolve issues, maintain smooth processing operations, and serve as point of contact for complex loan scenarios.
  • Vendor Management: coordinate with title companies, appraisers, attorneys, and other third parties to facilitate timely closings and accurate documentation.
  • Reporting: prepare and maintain operational reports on pipeline, team productivity, and processing timelines for management review.
  • Training and Development: develop and deliver training to staff to ensure consistency in policy application and best practices; maintain high service standards.
  • Policy Support: assist management in updating or developing procedures related to commercial & agricultural loan processing.
  • Process Improvement: identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and member service.
Leadership and Team Management
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture focused on quality and accountability.
  • Lead with empathy and integrity, encouraging teamwork, open communication, and respect.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and one‑on‑one sessions to align goals, provide coaching, and recognize achievements.
  • Support staff development through cross‑training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Provide performance feedback, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Partner with management to ensure staffing levels meet operational needs and member demand.
Engagement
  • Actively engage in meetings and department process improvement efforts with curiosity.
  • May engage with business members as necessary to support business development initiatives.
  • Maintain a professional image in difficult financial situations; seek clarifications from manager and update any concerns; provide information on Credit Union products and services to members and interested parties.
  • Act in compliance with established CU policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Performance Measurements
