General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, maintains a clean work area, ensures proper merchandise presentation, and performs a range of functions across the store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be requested to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor and keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy.
  • Assist customers as a register‑trained associate; answer questions politely and helpfully.
  • Respond to customer service calls immediately; handle issues courteously and involve store leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery per best practice to keep the store neat and well‑merchandised.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise receipts quickly to the sales floor.
  • Understand loss‑prevention programs, short‑age highway, and merchandising standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies; process and notify disposal properly.
  • Follow all cash, check, charge‑card, refund, void, and offline procedures; manage bankable tenders accurately.
  • Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by executing best practices and minimizing steps.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment including PDTs, registers and PCs.
  • Stand, walk and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Bend at waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop regularly.
  • Pushing, pulling and lifting more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling and lifting more than 20 pounds.

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 – $17.00 per hour. The range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. Other rewards may vary by position and location.
