Position Summary:The primary functions of an assistant manager are to coordinate and assist with activities of employees engaged in loading, transferring, and operating equipment in distribution yard.
Duties & Responsibilities:Assists with meeting the profit goals for the yardAssists the yard manager with opportunities for improving net profitMaintains key relationships with customersAssists with negotiating pricing to customers and communicates with new customersAssists credit with overdue accounts receivableEnsures that pricing is setReaches out to new customers and follows up on sales leadsAssists with post stock audit program and communicates results to customersResolves customer complaints about stocking and product qualityNegotiate with vendors, orders board and materials within general company purchasing guidelinesMaintains appropriate inventory levels in yard and controls shrinkageAssists with accurate input and confirms sales orders, jobs information and reports that support sales order entry processEnsures that yard staffing meets delivery needsAssists with proper maintenance and equipment protection programAttends monthly meetings to ensure everything is going accordinglyEnsures yard safety procedures are being followedBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree preferredMinimum of 3-5 years of related work experienceDemonstrated knowledge of all warehouse operational tasksCore Competencies:Strive to do the right thing by displaying trust and integrity.Embody the principles of servant leadership, even in a non-people management role, by putting the needs of others first, valuing diverse perspectives by sincerely appreciating and considering others’ opinions and ideas and demonstrating a positive and humble attitude.Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team; ability to lead, execute and/or delegate as needed, while also collaborating with others to get the job done.Establish and maintain effective working relationships at every level of the organization; invest in building relationships with the Field Operations and Field Support Center team members.Help champion an inclusive working environment; empower others to bring their full selves to the workplace; celebrate, welcome, and value the different backgrounds and experiences that make up our workforce; recognize that all team members are valued, regardless of race, background, tenure, or title.Ability to self-manage, show initiative, be proactive, and drive results.Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing to coworkers and customers.Physical Requirements:Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.Will frequently move about inside the office and distribution centers.Must be able to operate basic office machinery.Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.Constantly working in office and warehouse environmentMust be able to identify safety and maintenance concernsMust be able to work long hours if need beRequired Cognitive
