Teen Center Tutor - Part Time

The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.

Much has changed since that time. Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region.

One attribute that remains unchanged, however, is Sycuan's sense of community. Sycuan is more than just a business. Sycuan is a community of people working together toward a common goal. Whether you work in our state-of-the-art Casino, our beautiful Resort, or become a staff member in our Tribal Government division, you will be part of the Sycuan family.

Assists students academically for proactive or remedial purposes

• Provides private instruction to students by teaching students study skills, note taking skills, test taking strategies, assisting with homework, discussing testing techniques, working on solutions to problems, reviewing worksheets or other assignments, and assessing students' progress throughout the tutoring session.

• Promotes productivity and learning by organizing tutoring environment, keeping area free of unnecessary distractions, and promoting productivity and learning.

• Provides constructive feedback to students by using positive reinforcement techniques, encouraging, motivating, and building confidence in students.

• Communicates student progress by maintaining and updating student records and following up with the education departmental staff.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• CPR and First Aid Certificate

• Associates Degree Child Development or other education related field
• Single or multiple subject teaching credential
• Courses in Kumeyaay studies

• Ability to work with children from Kindergarten to 12th grade
• Ability to plan curriculum
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
• Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and assignments
• Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for up to 8 hours a day
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to appear for work on time
