In a nutshell

We are a leading mechanical and electrical services contractor, looking to recruit a skilled Quantity Surveyor / Project Surveyor / Lead Quantity Surveyor. We’re seeking someone with a strong contracting background, experienced in pre-contract negotiations and commercially leading the delivery of fast-track, multi-million-pound projects.

The ideal candidate will bring full commercial awareness, supporting the project management and operational teams on all contractual and financial matters, while also providing guidance and support to the Commercial Manager / Commercial Director as needed. You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, on budget, and with maximum value.

Day to day

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a range of significant projects across our business. You will work with a skilled team to support the design and delivery of developments including residential care villages, hotels, and other complex client projects. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, providing expertise and ensuring that each project is delivered to a high standard.

This will often include the following activities.

  • Management of all commercial activities throughout design stage, assistance with compiling the tender bid for the submission of the AMP (Absolute maximum price) construction of the project and engaging with Sub-Contractors / Suppliers during this phase.
  • Working alongside our design, pre-construction, estimating team during the above phase, ensuring commercial coverage.
  • Review and negotiation of the Contract with our Client, with support from the senior management team.
  • Negotiation and Contract placement of the Sub-Contract Agreements with our specialist Sub-Contractors.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly interim valuations to our Client in line with our Contract.
  • Manage, value and agree variations to the Contract.
  • Carry out the valuation, preparation, and submission of compliant payment notices to our Sub-Contractors in accordance with the Sub-Contract Agreement.
  • Management and agreement of variations with our Sub-Contractors.
  • Agreement of final accounts upstream and downstream.
  • Monthly production and presentation of financial report for the project in line with the company timetable.
  • Review and understanding of programme, and ensure correct contractual notices are issued and as required by the Contract.
