About the Role

Following the formation of the Goldfinch Trust, we are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Upper Primary / KS3 Teacher to join St. Peter’s Centre on a one-year fixed-term basis.

This post supports the pilot introduction of an additional classroom, made possible through newly secured funding. This expansion will allow us to support more students and further enhance the high-quality, personalised education we provide.

This is a flexible, part-time role, ideal for someone returning to teaching or seeking a rewarding position where creativity, relationships, and meaningful impact are at the heart of the work.

What You Will Teach
  • Core subjects :
    Maths, English and Science
  • PSHE and PE
  • Wider curriculum subjects shaped by your interests and specialisms

You will work with small groups of students, enabling highly individualised teaching and strong relationships.

About Our Students

St. Peter’s Centre currently supports up to 16 full-time equivalent pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to medical, emotional, or mental health needs. With the introduction of an additional morning session, we aim to support up to six additional part-time students.

Our students are:
  • Quiet, vulnerable, and often lacking confidence
  • Capable of making rapid academic and emotional progress with consistent support
  • Frequently successful in progressing to GCSEs and positive next steps

They thrive with staff who bring patience, consistency, and empathy to their role. If you are someone who can build trust and foster resilience, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Safeguarding Statement

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Please refer to the Trust’s Safeguarding Policy which is attached.

Keeping children safe in education 2025 () (KCSIE) sets out the requirement that schools and colleges conduct an ‘online search’ as part of their due diligence processes on shortlisted candidates. This online search will be conducted for shortlisted candidates for this position.
