Air Traffic Control (ATC)? The National Airspace System (NAS) is constantly pushing the boundaries of capacity and safety, and modernizing our core systems is essential to meet the demands of future air travel.  Leidos is seeking a talented Software Engineer (Level
3) to join our team in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, or Gaithersburg, MD, d edicated to developing the next generation of ATC expansion software. In this role, you won't just be maintaining legacy systems; you will be directly involved in the development of high-reliability, performance-critical systems that utilize machine learning models to enhance operational decision-making. This includes creating solutions for advanced trajectory prediction, optimized traffic flow management, conflict detection, and controller workload balancing.

You will be instrumental in designing and implementing these mission-critical systems, ensuring the seamless and safe integration of new, intelligent capabilities into the live operational environment. The Challenge:
* Design, develop, and test software components for our ATC expansion platform, with a specific focus on integrating AI/Machine Learning (ML) capabilities.
* Work closely with data scientists, subject matter experts, and other engineers to translate complex operational requirements into robust software solutions.
* Ensure the high performance, scalability, and reliability of mission-critical systems.
* Participate in the full software development lifecycle using Agile methodologies, including planning, design, coding, code review, testing, and deployment.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex software defects and system issues.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and system architecture.
What Sets You Apart:
* Due to US Government contract, must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related discipline, and at least 5 years of relevant experience (mid-to-senior level).
