Journeyman II - Plumber - Maintenance of Plant

The Journeyman II performs a variety of maintenance and engineering duties for the department. This position works on projects with other trade mechanics and reports discrepancies to management. The Journeyman II coordinates work to ensure work orders and preventative maintenance are corrected in a timely and cost‑effective manner. This position also demonstrates competency in at least one maintenance trade and provides general working knowledge of areas of maintenance and repair.

The Journeyman II performs work independently to analyze and correct problems, determines manpower, material needs and completes work by expected deadlines for jobs and/or projects. The Journeyman II also performs other general maintenance responsibilities not directly related to designated or licensed trade as needed, including rounding on equipment, inspections of buildings as required.

Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

This environment has the potential for exposure to extreme degrees of heat, noise, dust and dirt, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances and potential injury. Requires meeting deadlines for completion of work on a daily basis. Requires the ability to sit; stand; bend; kneel; climb stairs, ladders and equipment; and have good sense of balance to work on heights. Requires the ability to lift 75 to 100 pounds and work in a strained position some of the time.

Work whatever hours are necessary to maintain the facility in a safe manner, including weekends and nights. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool position.
