Position: Registered Nurse - Acute Partial - Full Time Days

Overview

The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan.

The patient care process includes assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation, and education to promote patient empowerment. The role supports performance improvement initiatives and leadership within the patient care team.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment – gather and organize subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural factors.
  • Planning – identify actual or potential problems and desired outcomes with a documented plan of care to guide patient care and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Intervention – implement specific interventions or orders aligned with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
  • Evaluation – determine effectiveness of interventions, document actions, and initiate reassessment or revision as needed.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary plan of care to ensure consistency with the medical treatment plan.
  • Support performance improvement initiatives and provide leadership to other members of the patient care team.

Employee may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services including specimen collection, processing, quality control, instrument maintenance, reporting results to clinicians, and maintaining competency/certification.

Qualifications
  • Education/LICENSE:
    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Nurses hired without BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year and complete within 3 years. Current RN licensure in New Jersey or multi-state license. BLS required. Valid NJ Driver's License required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs.
  • Experience:

    Proficiency in Clinical Applications; 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred.
Specialized Areas / Certifications
  • Emergency Room, Trauma Bay, OR, PACU, Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Radiation, Oncology, Structural Heart, and related units require various certifications (ACLS, PALS/ENPC, ATCN/TNCC, NRP, CCRN, etc.) as specified by department; most have time-bound requirements from date of hire or transfer.
Performance & Work Environment

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
Demonstrates the ability to perform department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Potential exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including blood-borne pathogens and infectious disease, with physical demands such as lifting and moving patients/equipment. Some departments require color vision.

  • Reaching, standing, walking, stairs; lifting 25-50 pounds frequently; lifting 50-100 pounds with assistance; pushing/pulling heavy equipment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
