Description Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating closely with physicians and other care providers to deliver culturally competent care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The RN oversees coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensures its alignment with the medical treatment plan.
Clinical Care Process- Assessment – systematic identification and organization of subjective and objective data, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural factors.
- Planning – identification of problems, setting of goals, and documentation of a care plan that directs the RN, the patient/family, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Intervention – execution of specific plans and orders in compliance with the care plan and medical treatment plan.
- Evaluation – assessment of intervention effectiveness, documentation of outcomes, and initiation of reassessment or plan revisions as required.
- Patient Prioritization – problems are prioritized in relation to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational, and social status.
- Goals – defined in alignment with identified problems to guide patient care and health promotion.
- Education – tailored to the patient’s needs, emphasizing empowerment and shared decision‑making.
Employee may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services, including specimen collection, quality control testing, instrument maintenance, and test result reporting to clinicians.
All care activities are performed in accordance with institutional policies, standards, and procedural guidelines.
Specialist Skills and LeadershipThe RN supports performance‑improvement initiatives, leads team members, and participates in continuous professional development.
Unit‑Specific Requirements- Emergency Room
Minimum 2 years medical/surgical and/or ER experience; ACLS required within 6 months, ATCN/TNCC required within 24 months; 8 hours of trauma education annually; PALS or ENPC within 12 months. - Trauma Bay
2 years trauma experience preferred; ACLS, PALS, and ATCN at time of hire. - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/(CTICU)
2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months; CCRN preferred. - Cardiovascular ICU (CVU)
2 years critical care experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months; CCRN preferred. - Heart & Vascular Unit (HVU)
2 years telemetry experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months. - Inpatient Perioperative Units (PCU, OR, PACU)
2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months; CNOR preferred; PACU requires critical care or PACU experience. - Interventional/Radiology
2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; ACLS and PALS required within 1 year;
Council credentials (CCRN, CGRN) preferred. - Endoscopy & Cath Lab
2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months; PALS, CCRN, CGRN preferred. - Oncology / Chemotherapy Infusion Services
Oncology experience preferred; ONS required within 6 months; OCN preferred. - Structural Heart
2 years cardiology experience; phlebotomy, EKG, IV insertion, and ACLS required. - Additional Services (Wound Care, Psychiatry, Behavioral Health, Labor & Delivery, NICU, Obstetrics, etc.)

- Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
- BSN candidates must enroll within 1 year and complete within 3 years.
- Current RN license in New Jersey or a valid multi‑state license.
- BLS required.
- Valid NJ driver’s license required for Adult and Child Partial Programs.
Clinical application proficiency preferred at hire; skill required within 30‑60 days. Specialty certifications and required training are noted in the unit‑specific sections.
Performance ExpectationsPerform competencies as listed in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Key work‑environment demands include frequent lifting (25‑100 lb), standing, stooping, walking, and handling hazardous materials.
Reporting RelationshipThis position reports to the patient‑care unit or department leadership.
