Position: Registered Nurse Director of Nursing - Ambulatory - Full Time

Overview

The Director of Nursing serves as a clinical resource regarding Ambulatory Patient Standards and Quality Improvement for FQHC Services. The Director acts as a liaison on Provider issues and plans while appropriately delegating patient care activities to other team members within their scope of practice. The Director ensures the delivery of quality, cost-effective care that meets medical standards of practice and that complies with all regulatory requirements.

In addition, the Director determines clinical staff qualifications, efficiently deploys resources and oversees training needs. Through effective collaboration with staff and the application of TQM principles, the Director supports quality improvement efforts and standardization across departments and divisions. This position participates in the long-term planning process and supports the organization's strategic direction through effective administration. The Director recommends and implements policy and practices, regulatory requirements, changing business environments and community needs.

The Director develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of Clinical services. The Director participates in determining the qualifications and competence of clinical staff and monitors and approves programs and services to meet consumer needs. Director demonstrates accessibility and responsiveness to other team members and provides timely and adequate feedback to team members. Director also promotes participatory management and develops a cohesive work unit.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for Ambulatory Patient Standards and Quality Improvement for FQHC services.
  • Act as a liaison on Provider issues and plans; delegate patient care activities within scope of practice.
  • Ensure delivery of quality, cost-effective care that meets medical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Determine clinical staff qualifications; deploy resources efficiently; oversee training needs.
  • Collaborate with staff and apply Total Quality Management (TQM) principles to support quality improvement and standardization.
  • Participate in long-term planning and support the organization’s strategic direction.
  • Recommend and implement policies, practices, regulatory requirements, and adapt to changing environments and community needs.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for clinical services.
  • Determine qualifications and competence of clinical staff; monitor and approve programs and services to meet consumer needs.
  • Demonstrate accessibility and responsiveness to team members; provide timely feedback.
  • Promote participatory management and develop a cohesive work unit.
  • Support organizational goals by delivering quality customer service and participating in performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Education:
Master degree required or in active pursuit within 6 months of assuming position. 5 or more years experience may be substituted for Master’s degree, then requiring a Bachelor’s degree for this position.

License/Certification:
Current licensure as an RN in the State of NJ. BLS HCP required.

Experience: 5-7 years combined nursing and management experience required. Solid understanding of Total Quality Management, Organizational Vision and Values, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and budgetary management skills required. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained and the skill will be required 30-60 days from date of hire.

  • Performance expectations as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
  • Potential exposure to hospital hazards, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and crouching for a majority of the workday; work with computer terminal, fax, printer, and copier.
