Speech/Language Therapist

Director and Supervisors of Special Education

To provide speech/language services to district students.

• Must hold or be eligible for NJ Department of Education Certification as a Speech/Language Therapist
• Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and completed at least 18 graduate credits in a Speech Language Program
• Must be willing to complete requirements to obtain Dept. of Consumer Affairs license and/or ASHA Certificate if not already possessed
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical
• Ability to pass the required Criminal History Review
• Ability to pass the Sexual Misconduct Child Abuse Disclosure

• Master’s Degree
• NJ Department of Consumer Affairs license as a Speech/Language Therapist preferred
• ASHA Certification
• School experience preferred
• Experience with assessment for augmentative devices desirable

• Determines the need for a speech/language therapy evaluation and selects/administers appropriate assessment tools to evaluate student.
• Interprets student evaluation data and writes comprehensive reports that reflects strengths and barriers to student's educational performance.
• Case manages students classified as ESLS.
• Develops speech language intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
• Maintains clinical records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines and district policy/practice.
• Reviews speech/language therapy services for quality improvement and makes changes as needed to ensure quality services.

  1) to $102,512 (DOC, Step 13)
