Overview
The Mobile Assistance Vehicle Technician provides transportation service, including the use of wheel chairs, of non-emergency patients. This includes transporting patients safely and accurately under all conditions including extremes in climate and in varied environments. The MAV Technician provides clear and properly executed documentation of transport. This position insures patient transportation needs are accomplished by performing assigned driving tasks. All services provided will be appropriate to the age of the patient.
The MAV Technician communicates effectively with customers to explain procedures, answer routine questions, establish rapport, etc. This position acts in a professional manner and maintains an effective working relationship with members of other agencies, hospital and long term facility personnel, patients and families, etc. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
- Provide transportation services for non-emergency patients, including safe operation of vehicles and proper use of wheel chairs in varied environments and climates.
- Complete clear and properly executed documentation of transport and ensure patient needs are met by performing assigned driving tasks.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain procedures, answer routine questions, establish rapport, and maintain professional relationships with agency, hospital, facility personnel, patients, and families.
- Support organizational goals through quality customer service, participation in performance improvement efforts, and teamwork.
Potential for exposure to hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Potential for psychological and physical stress. Work involves exposure to various climate extremes and weather conditions and exposure to disagreeable odors and body wastes. Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment or patients (50+ pounds, assisted or unassisted).

QualificationsEducation
:
High School graduate or equivalent required.
License/Certification
:
Mobile Assistance Vehicle Technician certification and BLS certification through American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire or transfer and a valid driver s license required.
Experience
:
Experience with healthcare/medical emergency or related field preferred.
