Overview
The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working collaboratively with the Physician. The RN utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification, initiating culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The RN is responsible for coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan.
Responsibilities- Conduct the nursing assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation (A/P/I/E) by gathering subjective and objective data and developing a documented plan of care.
- Coordinate and implement interventions consistent with the plan of care and the medical treatment plan.
- Perform limited laboratory services, including specimen collection, processing, quality control testing and instrument maintenance, and report critical results to clinicians.
- Support performance improvement initiatives and provide leadership to other patient care team members.
- Engage in ongoing professional and personal growth through educational activities and continuing education.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current RN license in the State of New Jersey or a current multi‑state license; BLS required.
- Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
- 2–4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 2 years emergency room experience preferred.
- ACLS required within 6 months of initial assignment and continuously maintained thereafter.
- ATCN or TNCC completion after 24 months of initial assignment; minimum 8 contact hours of basic trauma assessment and stabilization, and 8 contact hours per year of basic stroke assessment and NIHSS.
- Certification preferred: PALS, ENPC, CCRN, or comparable acute care nursing credentials.
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Work Environment- Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens, hazardous substances and infectious disease.
- Extensive standing, walking, stair climbing and frequent lifting of 25–50 pounds with assistance occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Pushing and pulling heavy equipment and transporting patients on stretchers unassisted.
- Manual dexterity to hand off instruments and maneuver in small work areas congested with cords and equipment consoles.

This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
