Senior Accountant, Leases, Accounting & Finance (Indianapolis)
Due to rapid growth over the last three years and anticipated growth over the next three to five years, Heartland Dental is adding depth to its financial team. The Senior Accountant, Leases will play a crucial role to ensure all leases entered into by Heartland are recorded and treated appropriately in accordance with US GAAP.
With more than 1,800 dental offices supported across 39 states, over 10,000 team members and over 3000 supported doctors in our support, Heartland Dental has a proven track record of growth and success. We’re looking for professional individuals who are open, positive and mentally flexible to join our network of support.
To give you an idea of the team structure, you will work as a member of our Accounting & Finance team, as a member of the Capital Spend vertical, reporting to the Supervisor of Lease Accounting.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities- Work closely with other departments and support offices on changes to rent and/or CAM charges.
- Manage accounting components of the lease portfolio in accordance with US GAAP, such as new leases, extensions, amendments or terminations through the use of lease administration software.
- Record journal entries and reconcile all lease accounts on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and possess ownership of assigned account analyses each period.
- Calculate and prepare rental payments for our supported offices.
- Assist with the documentation and implementation of internal controls surrounding leases.
- Assist the preparation of lease information required for the annual tax provision and return.
- Reconcile CAM & NNN statements and determine appropriateness.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting for lease covenant compliance.
- Provide customer service to our supported offices as they have inquiries related to their lease.
- Assist in the company’s adoption of new lease accounting guidance, ASC 842.
- Other projects as assigned.
- Completion of Bachelor’s degree, with a major in accounting.
- In-depth understanding of US GAAP.
- Detail oriented and process driven.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA certification).
- Regulatory (SEC) and compliance (SOX) experience preferred.
- Knowledge of lease accounting under ASC 840 (and/or ASC 842).
- Experience with lease management software.
- Experience with Epicor.
