Description

Under the direct supervision of the Tennis Coordinator, the Tennis Instructor will maintain a safe, professional, respectful, and positive atmosphere for our members and guests. Tennis Instructors will supervise tennis activities, techniques, and classes and ensure the tennis courts are in a safe, working order.

Essential Functions

Teach and assist in classes

Lead private and semi-private appointments

Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the tennis center

Prior experience in tennis preferred

Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed

All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

USTA Quick Start qualified

Ability to work well with a diverse group of children, parents, co-workers, and adults.

General knowledge of the Edwardsville YMCA and offered activities

CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of the community, social, and economic segments of the community.

Excellent judgment and decision-making skills

Must be able to work evenings and weekends

Must be able to coordinate a variety of large and small tasks simultaneously.

Must be able to handle stress and tension in a positive manner.
