What

You Will Do
  • The Full Practice Authority Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (FPA APRN) provides primary ambulatory care and telehealth services as part of the Student Health Service healthcare team.
  • The incumbent assesses health status, evaluates and manages illnesses or injuries, promotes wellness, disease prevention, and health education, and coordinates appropriate follow‑up care, referrals, and case management.
  • Additionally, the FPA APRN utilizes advanced diagnostic skills, orders diagnostic tests, and prescribes medication and drugs in accordance with the Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act and practices without serving under a collaborative physician.
  • The FPA APRN uses medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status. They also serve on health center committees as needed.
  • The FPA APRN provides input for the continuous improvement of services and understands the principles of patient‑centered care and the importance of the primary care provider delivering high‑quality patient care.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited diploma or baccalaureate nursing program.
  • License as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois without restriction.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner's Master's degree program (Women's Heath, Adult or Family Practice)
    AND certified as an advanced nurse practitioner.
  • Graduate of a diploma or baccalaureate program in nursing plus a formal post‑graduate nurse practitioner program AND current certification.
  • Licensed as a Full Practice Authority Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (FPA APRN) in the State of Illinois without restriction.
