What

You Will Do
  • Plan, program, budget, and supervise the maintenance of campus buildings and structures at Edwardsville.
  • Analyze existing conditions, determine appropriate measures, and supervise maintenance or repair work.
  • Support the Assistant Directors for Utilities and Alton & East St. Louis Operations with assigned staff and resources in maintaining building HVAC, fire protection, and other systems.
  • Support the maintenance of exterior utility systems on all campuses.
  • Support the maintenance of buildings and structures at the Alton and East St. Louis campuses.
  • Define scope, estimate costs, and plan maintenance, repair, and alteration projects.
  • Provide on‑go­ing project management for maintenance, repair, and alteration projects.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  • Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
    • A. Coursework in engineering or architecture
      , as measured by the conversion table below:
      • 30 semester hours = 1 year (12 months)
      • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) = 18 months
      • 90 semester hours = 2 years (24 months)
      • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) = 3 years (36 months)
    • B. Work experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings.
  • Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings
    .
  • Additional two (2) years (24 months) of supervisory experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings
    .
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • 2+ additional years of experience in construction or project management
    • 2+ additional years of professional experience in resource management or workforce optimization
    Knowledge and Skills
  • In depth knowledge of building construction and building systems including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  • Detailed knowledge of costing and estimating methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of labor relations including contract interpretation and grievance procedures.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, including the ability to forecast budget expenditures, work plans, and labor forecasts to predict budget behavior and make budget decisions early enough to avoid crisis.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance requirements and procedures for various facility components.
  • Good customer relationship skills: ability to deal with irate customers, identify underlying issues, and work to resolution.
  • Effective oral and written communication and organization skills.
  • Personal computer literacy required; proficiency in a variety of software programs including Computerized Maintenance Management System and MS Office applications.
