Position Summary
The successful candidate will prepare, paint, decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures in Division schools and buildings.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes or removing old paintmixing, matching and applying paints and other finishes to various surfacesproviding decorative and faux finishes as the project requireshandling planning and prep work in an efficient mannerpreparing the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plasticmoving furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the projectcalculating the amount of materials and time required for the projectremoving fixtures including light switch covers and plug platestaping off areas as neededcleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is completeEducation/Qualifications
Alberta Journeyperson or Red Seal Painter certificatevalid Alberta driver's licenseexperience working in a school or institutional environmentSkills and Abilities
must have the ability to: lift up to 25k, climb ladders, work at heights, stand and walk for extended periods, perform work in awkward positionsmust be able to undertake tasks requiring good hand-eye coordination and manual dexteritygood problem solving, organizational, time management and record keeping skillsexcellent verbal and written communication skillscomputer literacyability to work with a team or individuallyRate of Pay
