Position Summary:
Victor Energy Ltd is a powerline contractor with over 30 years experience building Alberta’s electrical infrastructure, recently acquired by Java Holdings Ltd. Java staff have over 50 years of experience building some of Canada’s largest electrical infrastructure projects. We are seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
- Perform equipment walk-around inspections.
- Maintain Victor Energy equipment in accordance with Government, Client and Rivard regulations, standards and procedures: safety; environmental; quality; contractual
- Proficiently operate any or all of core equipment, which includes Back Hoes, Dozers, Excavators, Track Hoes, Loaders and Skid Steer equipment.
- Operate equipment productively in all conditions including high traffic, remote or congested areas, as well as in all weather conditions.
- Read and understand blueprints.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems, field repair minor fixes and communicate major issues with mechanics.
- Maintain and ensure high level of safety
- Completion and timely submission of daily required paperwork
- Work with others as a team.
- Abide by all Victor Energy’s policies, procedures, rules and OH&S Act, Regulation & Code
- Participate in the Preventive Maintenance program for the equipment you operate
- Ensure a daily JHA, attend all safety meetings, toolbox
- Represent Victor Energy in a professional manner while on and off job sites
- Be “Fit for Duty” including;
Coordination, manual dexterity and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must have a current valid Class 3/1 drivers license and able to provide a clean driver’s abstract and a Heavy Haul Endorsement Certificate
- Construction equipment operating experience
- Related certificates and training would be assets for this position: PST, Ground Disturbance, TDG, CSTS-09, First Aid, H2S Alive, WHMIS, OSSA.
- Must pass a pre-employment Drug, Alcohol test
Work Conditions:
- Work for upwards of 21 days away from home
- Adaptable to changing shifts and being on call for load and go projects
