Security Guard - Industrial Site - TransAlta; Wabamun, AB

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and assistance and sustain effective relationships with clients and patrons
• Conduct proactive patrols to ensure safety and address policy breaches, and note any concerns
• Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner
• De‑escalate crisis situations, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel, including police, fire and paramedic resources
• Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers
• Write clear and detailed reports including incident, emergency, liability and day‑to‑day reports
• Utilize two‑way radios and computer applications to communicate site activities
• Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries

• Have attained formal education to the level of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
• Be duly licensed as a Security Guard by the Province of Alberta, eligible to work in Canada and be at least 18 years of age
• Possess a level of written and spoken English language proficiency suitable for effective daily communication with the general public
• Security staff must be in a physical condition suitable for the work environment and expectations
• Relevant security guard experience, no less than 1 year – preferably 2 or more years
• Must be willing to work shift work, including weekends and holidays
• Demonstrates a passion for teamwork or has proven experience actively participating in a team environment
• Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and to problem‑solve
• Technology – experience with CCTV and Access Control systems; strong computer skills
• Emergency management experience
• Command and control customer service experience
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to make decisions under pressure
• Be able to work independently
• Three‑step interview process, including being interviewed and approved by Trans Alta
• Work on a 7 on 7 off schedule

This site will have a 7 on 7 off schedule.
