Paladin Security provides security services to healthcare facilities across Alberta. Our Healthcare Security Guards play a critical role in ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This position requires strong customer service skills, quick thinking, and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations with professionalism and composure.
This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in violence prevention, de-escalation, and emergency response—building a strong foundation for future careers in law enforcement or advanced security roles.
Responsibilities:- Monitor patient safety and report changes to Protective Services and/or Clinical staff
- Report all incidents in accordance with site regulations
- Respond to alarms and emergency calls for assistance
- Follow and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures
- Handle confidential and private information with discretion
- Utilize two-way radio and computer applications to communicate site activity
- Monitor and screen visitors and clients professionally
- De-escalate high-stress situations and maintain order on site
- Ensure the safety of patients, clinical staff, and visitors using de-escalation techniques and, if required, physical intervention
- Log and report all incidents involving hospital staff, patients, or visitors
- Maintain detailed logs of patient interactions
- Travel within assigned zone, including rural sites (400–500 km radius)
Requirements
- Must live within 30 minutes of High Prairie
- Must be able to obtain an Alberta Security License
- Must have full availability, including overnights and weekends
- Must hold a valid Class 5 (or higher) Driver’s License
- Must have own reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel throughout assigned zone
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to write comprehensive reports and maintain detailed logs
- Ability to remain composed and make immediate decisions in emergency situations
- Discretion when handling confidential information
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Physically able to walk 18–20 km per shift and climb stairs
- Authorized to legally work in Canada
