Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician in the Central Engineering Department is accountable for sampling, analysis and reporting of process and environmental data, stewardship to the Laboratory Quality System, maintenance of the routine measurement systems and project support. Successful candidates for this role will possess strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work independently and collaboratively within a team, and maintain a strong focus on customer service.

This position is based at Nutrien’s Redwater, Alberta site and is not eligible for remote work. This opportunity is a full-time, temporary role for a 12‑month term, with the possibility of extension.

What You'll Do:

  • Sampling, analysis and reporting of data for process control, final product quality and regulatory environmental monitoring work
  • Performing instrument / test equipment calibrations and preventative maintenance, investigating instrument failures and effecting repairs
  • Maintaining the laboratory internal quality control process by monitor quality assurance in the lab, recognizing and recording out-of-spec runs
  • Ensuring and promoting a healthy and safe working environment by understanding and complying with the Site Safety Standards, the Environment, Health and Safety Management Practices and the Laboratory Safe Work Practices
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Chemical Technology Diploma and/or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
  • 1+ years' experience in an industrial laboratory environment
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset
  • Working knowledge of basic titrimetric, colourimetric and gravimetric analytical principles
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 1702
