Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.

Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handle various tenders, and adhere to company policies regarding transactions and restricted sale items.

Follow policies on cash shortages and overages, and work to control loss.

Report pricing discrepancies and follow procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.

Stay current with ads and promotions.

Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and perform equipment inspections.

Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product questions.

Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company guidelines.

Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment, manage conflicts, and act with honesty and integrity.

Support and assist diverse customer groups, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Customer service experience
Effective communication skills
Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

Customer service experience
Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
