About the position
DutiesAs an equal member of both the Ecological Integrity Monitoring and Caribou Recovery teams, you will support a wide range of projects that aim to maintain or improve ecological integrity and support species at risk recovery throughout Jasper National Park. The Resource Management Officer II delivers and leads applied science monitoring and active management projects.
In this role, you will:
• Work collaboratively with team members on a daily basis to solve data management, study design and data analysis challenges to support conservation.
• Develop and manage databases, integrate varied data sources (spatial, referential databases, captive/wild caribou data), analyze data, advise on study design, and prepare reports. Example projects include mammal occupancy monitoring using a network of remote cameras, alpine plant phenology trend monitoring, developing efficient data management systems, and liaising with University research partners.
• Infrequently, collect data by traveling in mountainous terrain in the remote backcountry, by foot or by helicopter, on physically-demanding trips of up to 5-days in length.
Due to the collaborative nature of the work within the ecological integrity monitoring and caribou recovery teams, and intensive data management and analysis on the I.T. network, this position is located in Jasper and requires an in-person presence.
