Hospice Prince Edward is seeking an RN/RPN to provide compassionate, individualized end-of-life care for the residents of the Hospice. The nurse works with the resident, their family, and the multidisciplinary team to assist in development and implementation of a care plan, emphasizing quality of life, symptom management, emotional support and personal care in collaboration with the other team members.

Rate of Pay: $32.96 RPN / $40.96 RN

• Effectively utilizes the nursing process and evidence-based best practices to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care – particularly pain and symptom management care.

Recognize, assess and treat end-of-life symptoms and appropriately respond to end-of-life care emergencies and psychosocial distress.

Ensures that the patient and/or family are involved in decision-making regarding their care.

Perform administrative clerical tasks such as admissions, discharges and answering the phone.

Work well under pressure in a physically demanding work environment that involves standing for extended periods, bending, crouching and kneeling.

The applicant must be able to assist in lifting and turning individuals.

Works as a team with the on-shift PSW sharing all care, housekeeping and clinical duties.

Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Minimum 2‑years of nursing experience required

Experience in hospice/palliative care

CAPCE designation or LEAP certification is preferred
