Description

York Region Educational Services (YRES) is a not-for-profit organization that provides individuals in York Region and beyond with free and affordable educational resources in a safe and supportive environment that inspires, motivates, and helps set the foundation for personal growth. YRES is dedicated to leading community volunteerism as a proud recipient of Canada’s Volunteer Award, through providing a wide range of volunteer positions in communities in the Greater Vancouver Area, Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, and Alberta.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop websites
  • Create visually appealing, user-friendly, and responsive web pages
  • Collaborate with clients and teams
  • Understand project requirements and work with designers, content creators, and stakeholders
  • Maintain and update websites
  • Perform regular site maintenance, bug fixes, and feature enhancements
  • Optimize website performance
  • Ensure fast loading times, cross-browser compatibility, and SEO best practices
  • Test and debug applications
  • Identify and resolve issues to ensure smooth functionality
  • Implement security measures to protect websites from vulnerabilities and data breaches
  • Stay current with web technologies and continuously learn new tools, frameworks, and industry trends

Requirements
  • Minimum age: 12
  • Passionate about volunteering and open to learning new skills and software
  • Complete training prior to start date
  • Can commit to the shift schedule
Additional Qualifications
  • Fluency/high proficiency in a language other than English
  • Previous volunteer experience
