Position: Director, Communications and Marketing (15-Month Contract)
Director, Communications and Marketing (15-Month Contract)Our client is seeking a Director, Communications and Marketing to lead the strategic direction, execution, and
continuous improvement of all internal and external communications, marketing initiatives, brand management, public relations, and government relations activities. This role is responsible for overseeing communication strategy, marketing programs, media relations, brand consistency, crisis communications, advocacy initiatives, and member and
community engagement. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience in communications and marketing, exceptional written and verbal
communication skills,
strategic planning capabilities, and proven success in managing brand reputation, media relations, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:Lead the development and execution of long‑term public relations, marketing, and brand strategiesOversee external communication channels, media relationships, and advertising initiativesGuide the creation of strategic messaging, speeches, scripts, and communication materials for executives and the BoardSupervise internal communications and ensure alignment across departments and staffMaintain and enforce brand standards across all communication platformsDevelop and lead crisis communication frameworks and response strategiesOversee government relations planning and engagement activitiesManage communications‑related features within the CRM and other digital platformsBuild and deliver an annual communications and marketing strategy aligned with organizational objectivesFoster strong relationships with industry partners, stakeholders, and mediaLead member‑focused communication initiatives, surveys, programs, and engagement strategiesOversee event‑related communications and support event execution with the Events Manager and teamManage departmental staffing, including hiring, onboarding, development, coaching, and performance managementMaintain a positive and inclusive team environment, promoting collaboration and professional growthOversee departmental budgeting, resource planning, and operational administrationYour strengths include:A bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field5+ years of leadership experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, with responsibility for performance management, culture building, and budgeting3+ years of experience in brand management, public relations, and media relationsStrong experience creating and executing strategic communication plans and executive messagingProficiency in digital and traditional communication platforms, including CMS, CRM, project management tools, and social media systemsExperience reviewing contracts and policies with a focus on risk managementKnowledge of advocacy strategies and working with government officials (an asset)Prior experience in real estate, nonprofit, or association environments (preferred)Exceptional organizational, planning, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilitiesStrong leadership skills with the ability to resolve conflict, delegate effectively, empower staff, and build consensusOutstanding interpersonal and communication skills, adaptable and responsive to change
