Director of CommunicationsOur client is searching for a Director of Communications to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of communications, including marketing campaigns, graphic design and social media, media inquiries, and the planning, development, and implementation of communications strategies. The successful candidate will be a
collaborative team leader with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, and have experience managing communications, marketing, and design functions in a progressively
senior leadership role.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with organizational priorities and reflects the cultural values and identity of the communityLead the planning, coordination, and execution of all communications, marketing, and graphic design initiatives across departments and affiliated institutionsEnsure consistency and cultural sensitivity in all messaging, branding, and public-facing materialsBuild and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with internal departments, leadership, and external stakeholders, including media, partners, and community membersProvide strategic advice and leadership on branding, media relations, and stakeholder engagement to executive leadership and department headsIdentify emerging issues and opportunities, and proactively develop communication responses and campaigns that are timely, relevant, and impactfulGuide and mentor a multidisciplinary communications team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance cultureOversee the development of content for various platforms, including digital, print, and broadcast media, ensuring alignment with strategic goalsMonitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications initiatives, using data and analytics to inform continuous improvementManage departmental operations, including budgeting, staffing, and performance management, with a focus on efficiency, accountability, and innovationMaintain a high level of political and cultural awareness, exercising discretion and professionalism in all interactionsYour strengths include:Post-secondary or Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Arts, or a related field7+ years of experience in communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership roleProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Word Press, Hootsuite, SEO, and social media platformsStrong understanding of branding, marketing, and digital media strategiesExperience in videography, photography, and graphic designExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills and a track record of building collaborative partnerships
