Millwright - 4th Year Apprentice

Alta Steel Inc. is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated 4th Year Millwright Apprentice to gain hands‑on experience in steel manufacturing. This role is ideal for someone safety‑mindful, eager to learn, and ready to build their career in a fast‑paced industrial environment.

As a Millwright Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced Journey persons and plant engineers, supporting preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

• Assist with preventative maintenance and repair of pumps, seals, motors, conveyors, and other industrial equipment.
• Work with Journey persons, engineers, and operational staff to identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Learn to interpret drawings, plans and determine best way of making machining repairs to minimize interruption to production.
• Perform routine inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures before they impact production.
• Document maintenance activities and update records in computerized maintenance systems.
• Support assembly, fitting, alignment, and adjustment of machinery and equipment.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and ensure proper housekeeping in work areas.

Previous experience in a plant or industrial environment is an asset.

Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow procedures.

Eager to learn, take on new challenges, and grow into a Journeyperson role.

Good communication and problem‑solving skills.

Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.

Basic computer literacy.
