Position: MVF3C Strategic and Engagement Manager
Overview   Location  - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

In accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff Agreement, this position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $80,772 to $111,086. This position has an initial appointment of 1 year.
Responsibilities  The MVF3C Strategic and Engagement Manager’s broad accountabilities are essential to the success and growth of the MVF3C initiative, including:
Stakeholder Engagement And Partnerships
Develop and curate resources that support Provincial and National Post Secondary Institutions (PSI) and academic leaders in creating practical, inclusive, and engaging learning environments to facilitate the academic success of military, veteran students and their families
Develop structured partnerships with other PSIs and innovation hubs in Alberta and Canada
Act as a primary liaison between the University of Alberta and key partners and stakeholders, including government and military end-users (e.g., Canadian Armed Forces, Veteran Affairs Canada and Royal Canadian Legion)
Cultivate strategic co-investment and joint efforts regarding human factors related initiatives and/or programs (e.g., resilience, 3

MDR), and startups
Represent MVF3C at national and international forums to build partnerships, attract investment and expand the network
Ensure compliance with safeguarding and duty-of-care requirements when working with vulnerable populations, including oversight of staff conduct, risk management, and prompt escalation of concerns
Project And Financial Oversight
Manage multiple complex aspects of the initiative, including the CMVF3C Core Committee, and monthly MVF3C and CMVF3C Meetings, Symposia and Annual General Meeting
Contributes to all initiative timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring timely completion and scope adherence
Prepares regular, comprehensive reporting for internal committees (e.g., Core Committee, Partnerships, Sponsors) and external community, government, and industry partners, using tools such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Teams to support collaborative engagement
Risk Management And Security
Identify and mitigate risks associated with intellectual property, research security, and compliance with programs like the Contract Security Program and the Controlled Goods Program
Inform the development and implementation of robust research security protocols and training to protect highly secure research, data, and facilities
Supervision & Talent Management
Serve as a direct supervisor for administrative staff positions as the MVF3C initiative evolves
Supervise and mentor a diverse, cross-functional team, ensuring high engagement, performance, and collaboration, and that professional development aligned with initiative objectives
Foster a collaborative and security-conscious work environment across internal university units and external partner organizations
Responsible for assessing operational needs and contributing to the hiring of new staff
Responsible for supervising, mentoring, and managing employee performance within a large, complex, unionized environment
Uses excellent interpersonal skills and applies the “employer-perspective” necessary to effectively manage and supervise diverse team members
Applies and complies with relevant Collective Agreement(s), HR-related policies and procedures (UAPPOL), and HR best practice standards
Proactively consults with the Faculty’s centralized HR Team to ensure all HR-related transactions comply with required U of A processes and procedures
Proactively consults with supervisor, HR Partner, and/or Central HR units regarding all other HR, employee relations, and labor relations issues to ensure compliance with relevant Collective Agreement, policy, and legislative requirements, as well as, ensuring HR best practice standards are applied
