Reporting to the Program Manager Digital Best Practices, you will support initiatives that promote best use of the Epic electronic medical record (EMR), including in-system education, analytics, evaluation of clinical digital initiatives, and our provincial Physician Builder program. This role works with physicians, clinical informatics experts, operational leaders, and digital health teams to lead system-wide improvements and ensure our digital infrastructure aligns with clinical workflows and provincial standards.

Description:
The Clinical Informatics Lead Digital Best Practice, is a key participant within Alberta Health Services' Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) office, responsible for advancing digital clinical practice and prescriber engagement across the province. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for programs that optimize the use of the Connect Care Clinical Information System (Epic) by prescribers, with a focus on clinical content development, in-system education, data driven evaluation, and physician-led configuration (Physician Builder program).
Reporting to the Program Manager, Digital Best Practices the role supports prescriber teams that help design, implement, and evaluate digital workflows, clinical decision support, and embedded analytics tools. This includes supporting and evaluating the design and sustainment of user-centered tools such as order sets, documentation templates, and clinical calculators, and enabling prescribers to participate directly in system optimization through the Physician Builder program.
The role requires extensive collaboration with clinical informatics leaders, operational and IT partners, and governance bodies to ensure clinical safety, usability, and adherence to provincial standards, in addition to these attributes the successful applicant will take on significant initiative in reviewing best practices and making suggestions to shape the programs they support. The Clinical Informatics Lead is also responsible for planning, supporting team development, and supporting evaluation frameworks to measure the clinical and operational impact of digital initiatives.
This position is essential to ensuring that AHS prescribers are equipped with high-performing digital tools that support evidence-informed, efficient, and safe care delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:Clinical Experience preferred. CPHIMMS Certification an asset. Epic certification, configuration, and use experience is highly desirable. Advanced training in health leadership preferred. Experience with Red Cap, Tableau, Oracle, desirable. Training in QI and process improvement methodology preferred.
